Lifting a house

I'm working on a project where we have to lift an existing house above the flood plain (about 8 feet). I'm doing this in AutoCAD, while trying to learn ArchiCAD in my free time.

I was thinking of using this as an ArchiCAD training project, as I haven't used the renovation filters at all yet. What would be a good workflow to document a proposed lift of a building? Can ArchiCAD handle something like this?

I guess one of the "correct" way is to set everything from the storey settings, insert one floor underneath your ground floor, to rename the floors and give them correct altitudes and storey heights.
But this can mess up your model, the altitudes of the walls and slabs, windows..(it is worth to try it, but better have a copy saved)
another possibility is to lower your ground storey slab 8feet down. But you will have your ground floor level set at -8feet, and the 0 level will be on the first floor which is not realy correct when displaying an elevation or section view.

What you want to do is to redefine your project zero relative to sea level/flood plain in the project preferences window:
Options>Project Preferences>Reference Levels.
These preference settings should be one of the first steps completed before modeling the project. When you begin to model floors, walls etc you are then entering there elevation relative to project zero or other stories. If the project as in your case then has to be raised or lowered relative to the site or site constraints it is a simple fix.
