SOLVED!

Locked wall will not unlock

Hi Guys,
I have a master plan pln which has a locked panel of wall in. No matter what I try, (Unlock, Unlock all, unlock layer etc.) I cannot unlock to modify or delete.
Has anybody got any ideas? I have tried all permutations of the reno filter as well.

Hi everyone,
Just thought I would let everyone know..
This was completely random the wall I could not unlock, was immediately adjacent to another wall which was part of a module hotlinked in (the facade and roof). I moved the facade hotlink 40 metres away from the body of the house and the locked wall unlocked itself, and could be deleted!!!!
I moved the facade mod back and all is well.
I thought I would share........

If it is a master plan then maybe the walls are part of a module?
You can't edit a module in the master plan - you have to edit the original module file.

Hi Barry,
Thanks for that suggestion, however unfortunately not.
We use modules extensively to change facades on our master house plan designs, so that had already occurred to me.
The best guess I have is that it may have been being edited by someone with a link to their desktop or something, crashed and then lost a link to the original file which locked the element without a way of unlocking.
I have had this happen on a couple of occasions, and the only way we have resolved it in the past was to do a multi-storey marquee, copy all and dump into a new template to re-create the master. I was hoping to avoid this process if at all possible and save myself a day and a half of work......!!!!

When you hover your mouse over the element, what does the info pop-up say?
It may give a clue as to why it is locked.
i.e. it will say it is locked or part of a module or the layer is locked.

I remember I once had the same problem, but I don't remember which Archicad version I was working on.
I was trying to change the selected element lock status via the Quick Layers Palette, but for some strange reason that didn't work.
The solution was to unlock the selected element through the menu: Edit > Locking > Unlock

Just in case you didn't already try that.

Hi Guys Thanks for your comments,
Unfortunately it doesn't give any clues, and I did try unlocking via the menu....

Thanks for letting us know.

I am still at a loss as to why the wall would become locked.
Being automatically trimmed by the hotlink elements (priority based connections) I can understand.
But not why the wall would be locked.

Anyway, glad you got it sorted.
