The dialog indicates that a contour is created. You can chose to add points (create topo contour) or make a hole (boundary contour). Click OK.

If you "Placed" the drawing it may not be able to use the contours (don't know why you'd get the dialog in that case though.

As a test try drawing some lines/splines/arcs with ArchiCAD and try those.

drew a line over the xref contour and nothing happens with magic wand and mesh tool. both the xref file and mesh is drawn on ground floor level .

I'm just about stumped. I've never seen this fail that I can recall.

Try a random spline crossing the mesh. This should create multiple nodes.

i deleted mesh and xref and re-re and drew a spline and this time it's showing the nodes on the spline. i am sure there is a way that i can magic wand on the cad contour lines without having to redraw the lines....

open up the survey in a separate instance of AC, then copy & paste the contours into your file

i had 2 bugs ;rebooted, re-re xref and yes it works but still can't figure out the mesh grading. this is my 10th time redrawing this simple building with 3 different levels [ garage 0.00, crawlspace -5.00' and basement -11' ]. the survey starts at 122.76' [south-west corner of the property line] to 142' [north-east corner of the property line]. the driveway bottom is approx at 123' and top of driveway is at garage 0.00...attaching 2 pictures.
