MODELING A WALL

I wonder how to model a (spline?) wall - in section, a smooth curved organic wall that would be without horizontal edges when rendering. Is that actually possible in ArchiCAD 8? Thanks

Possible methods:

1. Use the curved roof tool. This only works if the walls are straight in plan.

2. Model the shape with a slab and save as a library part. (Same limitation as above.)

3. Write a library part from scratch. This allows you to do whatever you want but will require some (or a lot of) skill with GDL.

4. Model the shape in another program and bring it in as an object. (This has too many variations and issues to get into right now.)

If you want a compound curve (in plan and section) 3. and 4. are the only options.

If you want it to remain a wall, or to at least inherit the openings from a wall describing its plan outline(s), you have to use one of the add-ons - for organic forms, it is ArchiWall.

I guess that would fit under number 4 in my suggestions, only better since it works inside of ArchiCAD as an add-on. This is probably the best choice overall. The other internal methods are quirky and limited and the external solutions can be troublesome to maintain.
