Magic Wand Settings on fills

I tried to use the magic wand to create a fill to define elevations better, where this stairs go. I looked it the settings, but I am a bit at a loss. Thank you kindly for any help!

The magic wand often fails for filling areas that are a little complex.  You can surround an area with the marque, print as a .pdf, put it back in the drawing with the drawing tool and explode it to get at the fill you want.   ??    But you should not need to do that in order to have that railing display how you want it.
