Mesh

I should know this by now - but don't. How can we set meshes and storey settings to this column of earth? I wouldn't like to build on Mt Everest!

Let's try this again. How can I avoid this tall column of earth under my building? I've tried messing with my settings and want my mesh contours to coincide with the AHD settings received from my surveyor.

And here is the column of earth with the mesh setting.

Instead of a mesh skirt height of 1000 try a negative figure - i.e. -82000.

You can also just drag the bottom of the mesh in 3D and adjust the height with the pet palette option.

Thanks for the suggestions Barry. Unfortunately, none of them work. Dragging the bottom up uses the 'stretch' command and it doesn't seem to do anything. Changing the skirt from 1000 to -82000 separates the house from the site.

It seems that we need to ignore the true (ADSL based) floor levels and site contours and fudge the figures. Imagine the column height if I was building on top of a mountain!

AHD is only for measurements? You could try using the Reference Levels in Project Preferences. Either use Sea Level or change one of the whopping number of two custom levels.

This what I use to refer to NAP (Nieuw Amsterdams Peil).

Or do you actually have to model the terrain to this level?

I don't know if this will confuse the matter, But....

I set my project's main story elevation to 0' (in Story Settings) and then set the Alitude (sea level) elevation in Project Location.

Much simpler to adjust.
Read HERE

Warning:
Changing it midstream will mess with all of your section and elevation views.
