Modeling Beams In 2D with Gap

Not applicable
I hope this topic doesn't exist already as I have done a few searches and cannot find it. Anyway, what I would like to accomplish is having a small gap at the end of beams where they are framed into another member (beam or column). If this can be done automatically that would be amazing but all that I have found so far is to shorten the length of the beam in the model so there is a physical gap between the two members. This is obviously not ideal but maybe the only solution. Any ideas?

I cannot see & don't know of a way you can make the beam have a gap automatically.
But you could make a spacer object from another element which could be a higher priority based connection & on a different layer to be turned off.
That way a gap would appear in the model without actually having to separate the 2 elements.
That's how I would do it anyway
