Hi!
I'm modelling a renovation to a row house. I'm wondering what the best practice is for modelling the attached neighbouring houses? I was thinking just using the morph tool to rough in the shapes but since the houses share party walls and the council is interested in understanding how the renovation affects the light/foundation/structural etc for the neighbours it could be beneficial to model the basic shell of the neighbouring houses in detail.
If I do this is there some way to shade the neighbours houses so it's clear which house is part of the renovation and which are not?
If anyone has any experience with this sort of thing I'd really appreciate some feedback on the ways they've modelled it in the past.
The street view of the house can be seen here. As you can see the house shares two party walls with the neighbours:
I just model what I want to show and cover things up with fills where I don't want to show things.
Sometimes I'd want to show the street facade / elevation with neighbours clearly shown, so I would model at least the outside shell for that. Sometimes I just model something like the first meter.
I want to make it clear which elements are part of the renovation scope. I was thinking I would change the opacity of all elements on the neighbouring houses so they are shaded out slightly. Is this the right approach?
I'm new to Archicad (coming from Revit) so I'm really sure how to go about doing this. Is it possible to add all neighbouring elements to a special layer and set an opacity on this layer?
