Nodes using the Pet Palette

Upgraded to 8.1r2v2 in August from 8.0 and have 3 things that just don't work right as they did in 8. Will submit as 3 separate questions.
-------------
I used to be able to double click a selected object, such as a roof outline, and create a new node. This seemed to be a result of the fact that the Pet Palette would retain the last selected action. In 8.1 the Pet Palette always defaults to the Move action, requiring one to click, select the 2nd page icon, get the move node rubber band, and then click in the location you want to place a node - rather laborious.

Any ideas? Does placing a node in 8.1 behave different? Maybe a Mac thing? I didn't upgrade the PC, so can't check it out.
Thanks all...

It works fine on my PowerBook; both 8.1 and 9.0.

Received a call from a friend who saw my post. Said to check and make sure Snap Grid was turned off. Sure enough, it was turned on. Turning it off, nodes can be placed by double-clicking, 'On' they won't.
