Objective vs Shell

I must admit, I haven't had a great deal of luck with the shell tool yet... Tried the tutorials, but maybe what I want to do can't be done...

One path will MANY NODES that can exist anywhere in the 3d world... Imagine a ROLLER COASTER...

I've been asked to model something similar to the pix below... just looking for some advice.....

the top view looks like an 'interchange', very much a bridge/engineering
project... i did something like that with objective, you can have horizontal alignment/verticalaligment and a 'bank' / cross slope... i havent used
the shell tool.. but i would use objective that i know i can do it...
of course i had the prompt/really quick help from Ralph V

There's a video on this page that gives a few clues how to use the shell tool in practise...

I say that cadimage 3d profiler is perfect for this job IMHO. I think u can also do it with Shell Tool, but will take more time/work, will need to split the paths into segments. Objective could also do but with same procedures as the shell tool.

Hmm... I tried to copy this tutorial and when I did the REDEFINE SHELL CONTOUR I either get the shape I spacebar click to be the HOLE in the shell (not the "positive" shape I'm after) or.. I try to "Manually" reshape it and it wants to trace a thickness around the boundary.

Obviously it works in the video... Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

OBJECTiVE would certainly give you the tools to do this job. Each segment in the path can be finely controlled, either visually with the tools to bend, offset, rotate, etc, but also the parameters in the object itself (if you need specific dimensions and angles). The attached image shows the relationship between certain parameters and the 3D form of an extruded object.

If you haven't receive a demo code, please contact me through Encina's contact page (or PM on this site if you prefer). Responses are sometimes blocked or delayed by overzealous A/V or anti-spam filters.
