Other Translator Problems

There are several problems we have encounter when using the Translator. Feel free to respond to any of these.

1 - When importing to PlotMaker, all of our MText entities that were right-justified in AutoCAD turning into left-justified text after translation. This doesn't seem to happen at all in ArchiCAD -- it's only in PlotMaker

2 - The translator skips ALL Attribute entities that aren't contained within an AutoCAD block.

3 - The translator skips 90% of the MText entities in some drawings, but gets all of them in other drawings. I haven't noticed any particular consistency that causes this problem.

4 - Even though I have "Convert Leaders To Labels" checked, the leaders come in as polylines without an arrowhead and without the 1/4" tail just before the text.

The graphic below shows an instance of a truly crappy translation.

1 - Only three of the MText entities came through.
2 - Every entity that is greenish-blue in color (122) on the AutoCAD side is supposed to be blue (163) on the ArchiCAD side. As you can see, all the dimensions chose a purple color (122) instead. Did it keep it's original color number, or did it use 122 because that same color is used for every object layer?
3 - No arrowheads.
4 - Leaders weren't translated into Labels, they are simple 1-line polylines.
5 - The messy yellow detail tag at the bottom of the AutoCAD side is an exploded version of the tag above it. Notice that the attributes didn't come in on the ArchiCAD side.
6 - The number on the 18' dimension came in as the correct color (163), but none of the other dimension numbers are correct. The only difference is that the text on the 18' dimension is overridden, whereas the other dimensions use their default values.

We should be able to import AutoCAD details and tidy them up quickly, but when the translator does this poorly with a simple detail, it takes far more time than it should -- especially when we are talking about 70-80 details.

(I can post the translator and/or the AutoCAD drawing on request.)

If it is not violating any copyrights, zip and post it here.

This is the DWG and the translator I used.
Jay,

Use your Pack & Go (Express tools) or PACK command then zip and post.

This is the eTransmit version. I didn't include any of the fonts because they are all standard in AutoCAD and they made the ZIP file to big to upload. (max = 256K)
