Picture in 3D view

For some of my initial design work I don't do any real survey but rather I use Google Earth and capture a high resolution picture of the area. Next I import that picture into AC and scale it so that everything in the picture is shown actual size. This works great in the 2D/floor plan viewing mode. What I haven't been able to do is have the picture show (at ground level) in the 3D viewing mode. I would like to know is there is a way in AC 21 to get the picture to show in the 3D view? This would be great for presentations instead of having to import the building(s) into Google Earth where it takes forever when the buildings are complex and have lots of curved surfaces.

You would need to make a surface and use that image as a texture for it. Then you could apply it to a slab or mesh and use the Align 3D Texture command to position it correctly.

There is also a 3D 'carpet' object, that you can abuse to use an image file loaded in library, just resize the object to your placed image.

The quality isn't that great in 3D though, even at very high resolution.
