Betatest in Russia?

I know this is slightly off topic - but related to where this discussion is going:

Here in Australia we are seeing a push by Graphisoft to a subscription model, with the incentive that the Gold level (highest) includes one major step upgrade and promised savings of around $300 (compared to buying the upgrade separately).
Interesting thing is a gold subscription is for two years, which suggests a longer cycle than 18 months...

Also interesting they are offering incentives to buy into this subscription ahead of the product launch....so people commit to the upgrade sight-unseen.........I really do hope that when 10 comes out it is a justifiable upgrade.

Don't misunderstand
The expectation is very high.
AutoCAD, Vector Works and Allplan ..... they have updated very nice.
We as ArchiCAD-user hope, AC will be better than AC9 and much better than AutoCAD.
GS must give information. It will just help us to orientate.

"Orientate" rhymes with "flagellate" for all the good it will do.

I have to agree there. VectorWorks 12 is AWESOME.

Actually from what I understand about American and Canadian civil law, a Russian who does not read english cannot be held accountable for such an agreement. There must be a reasonable expectation that both parties have come to one mind about the terms of the agreement and one does not exercise an unfair advantage over the other in aplying those terms. Thus minors and drunk people cannot be bound to contracts because there is a resaonble expectation that they don't realize what they are signing. I do believe that the courts would find a language barrier a reasonable expectation that the terms are not understood. And since it is to Graphisoft's advantage it would be incumbent upon them to ensure that the lease was available in Russian, and if this is not possible someone with a knowledge of Russian was present to interpret the terms as they are written in english.

This might be a better topic to be argued in the pub, but everyone, including Russians , knows that regardless of language or freedom of availability, NOBODY intends to freely distribute software.

So why discuss the language or wording of an agreement?

And besides… it's Russia!

You think Graphisoft is going to put some lads together and kick donkey in Murmansk? Retreat under a hail of empty vodka bottles and burned-out hard drives they will!

ha, Murmansk... who would go so far? (I think it's close to Canada or somewhere there in the twilight zone...)

The fact that a beta-version was "leaked" (which in itself is strange, but quite common in the Internet ages) doesn't give the downloader any specific rights to use the application.

And if Graphisoft wants to censor information about non-released software, then they are free to do so at their own forum.

Every major software firm has a beta process, meaning testers have information about non-released software. This only works in an atmosphere of trust, where you agree to non disclose any information.

Many people excuse themselves by telling that they didn't sign any NDA when they have a copy of beta-software... which just makes no sense at all.

I understand many people are eager to find some info about AC10, but at the same time, leaking and spreading info around might as well hurt the product and give it's competitors some strategic advantage, which is not in the interest of anyone here...
