As for the ethics of checking out the beta and then revealing it, I understand both sides. For GS or Djordje or Dwight or Karl or anyone else who likes, or makes a living selling, Archicad, revealing this info is wrong, and I would completely understand if this post is removed.
Revealing this info is not only wrong, but you or the person that showed you 10 broke a written contract.

You also devalued the efforts of the people who are making and testing this software.

If the post is removed, well, that's understandable.
I will not remove the post, for reasons stated in my previous post, but will remove any subsequent post that replies to this one or goes into more detail.

BTW, if you knew more than the basic wham bam about ArchiCAD you would have seen more. Good that you are using something else now.
As you are obviously interested only or mainly in modeling - please model away.

I may just repeat the i expected AC10 to be a milestone in Archicad History.

Unfortunately that would be far from truth. A nice update maybe. But far from beeing an anniversary update celebrating the 10th edition of archicad and filling the gap of the missed version.

(yes i know i have said it before, but i cannot stop shouting how bad was for archicad that missed version......)

This guy's signed the NDA, and violated it. He is the one who is doing the betraying. Who he is shouldn't be so hard to find out, just compare his writing style to other recent posts. There are even programs to do that! Delete his post, track him down, ban him from this forum, and sue!
Whoa Thomas! A recent Google search showed that AC10 Beta 3 was available for $20 from various warze sites. I'm sure it's available via bittorrent and other means for free. For better or worse, it's out there. Violating an NDA and downloading a cracked copy out of curiosity are very different things, IMHO (even if both are illegal, immoral, etc). I don't think we have enough evidence to burn him at the stake just yet.

The more interesting issue to my mind is not the morality or supposed sub par character of this poster, but the content of his post. It left me pretty disappointed -as an upgrade, AC 10 sounds like a bust.

Yes, as users in this community we should support Graphisoft in their beta efforts and help them in whatever way we can to release stable, usable tools (this is one reason I bought in on the stupid subscription). This guy has not helped directly in that regard. However, as members of a business community with mortgages to pay and staff to train we should also DEMAND better features, workflow, creativity and usability from the software and better direction and leadership from the company. The pervasive feeling on this list is "we use AchiCAD because it sucks less and switching would be way to hard so just learn the workaronds and shut up".

It does not need to be this way. If I was Graphisoft and I was reading this list I would conclude that everything is pretty much peachy. Well, from this longtime user's perspective , IT AIN'T PEACHY. It's pretty terrible. The software feels slow, difficult to use, poorly updated, poorly conceived, sloppily executed and very patched together. As a community I don't think we've articulated this reality as well as we should. There is too much resignation and not enough indignation. Yes, switching is hard, but realize that GS exploits this fact and relies on it. As a user I hate being stuck in that situation.

If this guy's lackluster AC10 beta review helps slap GS in the face (as well as a few complacent users) then he has done much more good than harm.

I don't interrest for pirate. The important one is that I am legal user.
I am very happy with AC as architect. I hope that AC will be improved.
Everybody knows how much work if one office must change CAD.
For this reason I wanto say to GS:

Show about AC10 and say whats going on.
Don't worry!! Show simply
I am very interrested the next version.
This forum is also very nice (also with Dwight)

This thread continues to disappoint me. What ever happened to the concepts of honor, personal integrity, and ethics? Pirated software is illegal software. Violated agreements are just that. Can anyone who is doing these things really expect anyone here to ever trust them on any confidential matter? It is remarkable to me that someone would stand up in public and declare their character in such a way.

As to the content posted by the anonymous guy: it bears little resemblance to the reality that I know but cannot share.

We all need to be patient until Graphisoft is ready to make public announcements. 😉

Djordje,
Thanks for reminding use that we are Architects, Engineers and Designers, and not that we are ABOUT Modelers or Renderers! And AC does a very good job for being an "Architectural" design tool like construction documentation.

Karl I think SUSPENSE is killing every one; that doubt that what AC10 could be, A beast or not

Yes, I somehow agree with this (I know it's against the NDA and all the legal stuff) but I suppose as long as you will keep your mouth shut and enjoy a fiddle with a long expected tool being absolutely tortured by waiting on that...

Oh, please... there is no reason to be so theatrical. The fella who has stupidly and publicly posted information about AC10 is trying to stir whole thing up.
Secondly, is it a problem of those who have downloaded the 'pirated' version or is it a major stuff up of GS as a software developer that can not control security loopholes in its own system? I would expect from people a bit more diligence with those things and especially when it is your everydays bread and butter.

It's amazing to see the unhappiest people having bought a subscription…
How much did you save? 300 $ in the US? Any kid older than 10 can tell you that the average delay of the major releases of AC is more than 1 year. So it's less then 1 $ per day, peanuts for professional users.
The best user I know (whatever you can ask in AC, including GDL) was displeased by the 9th upgrade, he is still on 8.1 and still makes good (and a lot of) job. Unfortunately (for me and my buddies), he prefers architectural job (my community, Chazz, not yours) than AC support.
His lesson:
Don't subscribe! Wait 2 month after the release, test and watch serious people comments. And you'll also avoid the major bugs the beta testers didn't detect; because all the crazy users did everything they can to discover bugs.
You subscribed to help the "community"? AC asks beta testers for that. They didn't ask you? They probably do not want the kind of help your messages reflect.
I don’t make a big deal of theses "stolen" images and BTW I am not that happy with the "user's wish's fulfilment" tempo by now. Let's see the 10th...in a few months
