Betatest in Russia?

As I have asked before, can anyone give me even one good reason why Graphisoft would not want to let us know what is coming for version 10?

The only thing I can think of is that they feel they can draw more attention to it through gossip and bootleg copies than from official announcements.

The other reason could be that they think they will lose thousands of subscriptions if we were to get a look at what we are buying before we pay for it.

None of it makes any sense to me. Any resourceful person can download an illegal copy off the internet and see what is going to be in 10. I have been getting e-mail for months trying to sell me the International version 10. NO THANKS! Quit offering this to me. I don't want it.

I already paid for a subscription. I only hope I can get 10 before my subscription runs out. Some of us bought subscriptions about 8 months ago I think.

I hope I don't have to do that again. I would rather see what I am getting and then decide if it is worth it or not. I am starting to feel like I may have made a bad choice to buy the early subscription.

To answer to Steve's question (this is my opinion): I think in today's computing world it is not always safe for a company to announce features in advance. What if during testing some problem turns up which delays the program? In such a case, you either delay the program for months, or you cancel the feature that was already promised so as to eliminate the problem. Which one would you choose? Either way is bad. That's just my idea.
There are examples of this right now: Microsoft is continually delaying their new operating system, Vista (or whatever it will be called), and big promised features, like brand-new state-of-the-art file system have already been abandoned. Not very good PR either.

The other thing is that everyone should look and see for themselves ArchiCAD 10 in a demo when it comes out and study the new features thoroughly. No full features list has been given here or anywhere else by anyone so how would anyone know if he will be satisfied with the new version when he doesn't even know what it will contain? Just some rumours and other vague ideas.
So we just need to wait until it comes out, and then see it for ourselves.

Please show just some screen shots about AC10, not from illegal site, but from GS!
If screen shots are changed, than can be updated.
I want to see just some looks!! (better with film)
Why is it so difficult?

Bought mine 5 months ago from a reseller (who's name will be withheld for his own protection) promising that it was the "last day of the sale". Of course it went on "sale" 3 months later at the same price.

I'm all for the subscription thing if improves development but I found the first implementation of the model rather galling.

What was the original topic again? Something to do with Russia?

yet another "russian friend" comes in... . Sorry to disturb you guys, but when digesting this peculiar thread I remembered, that, indeed, not a long time ago I accidentally got on the beta page and... downloded Not what you think a normal russian would, but very detailed, nice videos of AC10, very descriptive, showing all the new tools and other enhancements (deleted them after seeing them through) and I didnt see any disclamers in those videos or when download began. Question is whether I am an outlaw now as well as my other "russian and chinese friends"? Does one have to always sctutinize pages peeping tiny disclamers here and there before starting to download. Do you? even PDFs?
PS i don't use AC but am keeping myself informed/

if so, it's a very good point... and I suppose it is proving my point that it was a major f-up of GS. Yet all that fuss over some ethics or whatever...

Please understand that if you bought a subscription, you will get the upgrade, even if AC10 is released after the one-year of paid subscription. Also, unlike some software subscriptions, your license for what ever version of ArchiCAD never expires. Therefore, people who upgrade to the next version of ArchiCAD have only done so if there was a compelling business reason for it.
Subscription is simply an additional choice for you. If you are like many satisfied ArchiCAD user who upgrade every time a new version is available, you may discover that subscription is less expensive in the long run.
But it is a free country. So take it or leave it.
One more thing I will point out. Most of the people who sell ArchiCAD also use it. I have been selling ArchiCAD for ten years and I am proud of this product. I look forward to the next ten years, and to "10" in particular. 🙂
