Printing PDF's

Anonymous

Anyone successfully using Plotmaker PDF's in the U.S.

When I select to print to PDF, I correctly select the PDF generator in Plotmaker.

However, all paper sizes are in MM's and it is at best guess work to get the exact paper size and output size.

Any tips or hints to properly use.

Thanks,

Grant

You need to include your hardware/software info in your signature. I imagine you are using a PC, as I've had no trouble on the Mac with the ability to generate PDFs built in to the OS. Sorry, someone else will have to help with PC questions.

I haven't been having any problems, knock on wood.

Your query re: mm's rings a bell. Did you do a search here on ACtalk?

Thanks for your replies.

I am running Windows XP, AC V9.

The problem is really with specifying the print sheet size and having it exactly the same as a paper print size.

Currently the PDF converter requires the paper sizes in MM's.

My current sheet size width for instance is 3'-10 13/16". This accomodates my margins and gives me a large print area.

However, if a different project requires different paper sizes, the PDF converter requires a calc to get it to print correctly with the correct scale.

Thanks,

Grant;

If you're into 'serious' printing to PDF's you might like to try other options than the Amyuni provided. We have found that this is not the *best* pdf document generator.

Acrobat costs about $200. I've never tried it.

Two programs we have worked with are PDF Factory (30$) and PDF X-change (50$). There are trial versions of these programs available. They also give you paper sizes in yards of ale

Ok, I've figured out how to add paper sizes to your options in amyuni pdf.
The pdf driver pulls the paper sizes from other drivers installed on your computer. So if you only have the regular printers drivers installed on your computer than you probably only have MIcrosoft Windows Standard sizes for paper size options.

To solve this, simply

add a new printer
install printer manually
select a driver that supports large formats ( I chose HP GL 2 plotter)
install
and you should now have all kinds of paper sizes you didn't have before.

I hope this helps someone besides myself.
