Problems with editing text? An old but unanswered thread...

Just spotted this thread whilst looking for an answer to the same problem and noticed that the solution I found wasn't stated on the original thread which has now been closed / locked:

I couldn't figure out why all of a sudden I wasn't able to edit text by double clicking on it. I finally figured out that I didn't have the quick selection box ticked which instantly solved the problem. This solution wasn't given on the original thread so I thought I would post it again in case anyone is having a similar problem and looking for a simple fix. See attached JPEG for info.

And remember you can use the space bar to temporarily toggle the quick select on if is off and off it it is on.
Personally I like to leave it off and just space bar when I need it.
This is of course if you have the select (arrow) tool active.
If you are in any other tool just SHIFT + SPACE BAR.
