Question for purpose of using MEP?

Hi everyone, just wondering if i can build MEP netwrk with 2d autocad imported only or this is limited to archicad build up model and IFC i do not know much about it.
also, can we made MEP only without 3d of building?? (because it is imported)
can we also make MEP on imported revit architectural project 2d?
My question seem strange but this because i have not try MEP and looking forward to it after seeing some videos from Graphisoft website.

Importing MEP elements requires that you have the actual model in Revit or AutoCAD. If all you have are 2D drawings you will have to trace over them with the 3D tools. The same is true in any other program.

Yes you can model the MEP by itself without walls. They are fully independent tools.
