Question regarding groups

Anonymous
Not applicable
Hi all!
My first post on this forum so here goes!
I'm not sure if I missed this feature in Archicad 16 or if I'm asking the question correctly.

What I want to do is create a group then copy the group over a site. For example a number of similar industrial units across a site.
Then I want to be able to edit all the units together.

Anybody know If this is possible?

Read in the manual about "Modules".
Basically you will save a Mod from the "original" and then place the modules on your site. Then if you edit the original module it will update all others.

All grouping does is make the elements easier to select in one go. If you (suspend groups and) alter anything it is only that one instance that gets changed, not other copied groups.

You want to investigate Hotlinked Modules (a selection of objects or elements in a distinct MOD file, which can be updated through multiple instances). A MOD file is basically a mini PLN, but with just the relevant elements.

An alternative, but probably not what you're after in this case, is creating an Object.

Lots of advice around this forum if you do a quick search for either of those terms.

Hope this helps.

Edit - Ha ha, I obviously type too slow, and say too much, Eduardo.

Just a quick read and I could see this is exactly the feature I was looking for!

Thanks! I used to work on Revit and there is was called "referencing" I think. And sketchup has components! Didn't know what the guys at graphisoft called theirs...
How you ask a question is the most important thing!
