Quick Selection not working

Hi everyone - has anyone dealt with this before?

On a Mac with latest build of AC24:
My Quick Selection tool (magnet) will not toggle ON/OFF using the space-bar key. Nor will the space-bar initiate the trace command around any closed polygon. I feel like this is a corrupt preference / plist file but perhaps a glitch. Anyone know if a possible fix?

It is a glitch that comes and goes based on the updates. Usually quitting AC and login out fixes it. If not then a restart always works.

Yes - rebooting worked but it obviously keeps reappearing.
