MacPro with Intel Xeon is cheaper than Dell with Xeon.
That means, Apple workstation is cheaper than Dell workstation.
That means,
Mac OS is cheaper than Vista regarding Workstation.
But,
Apple workstation is more faster and more beautiful and more ...?
AC user wants to know the better hardware.
Graphic card is not so seriously important for architects.

Internet and server and printer with existing XP, and MacPro for AC.
Can the both systems be connected together?
I have used my MacBook Pro to connect with many Windows networks and have had no more than the usual problems, booting in either OS X or XP (networking outside of an all-Mac environment is always a bit of a pain).
I prefer to use the both system in the future. Ohterwise I can not use existing Adobe for Windowsystem.
For AC-using (CAD-using) I will use MacPro.
For the data exchange I must use Windowsystem.
Just to have Apple is very painful (first of all because of hardware like printer etc...)

I will be very interested to know how you like parallels. I haven't installed it yet since it will not use the same install of XP as Boot CampMatthew,
The latest version of Parallels will use the Boot Camp Windows install:

I am Windowuser (at least till now) and I have already many hardware (like printer, modem and so on) for Window. If I buy MacPro, the hardwares are no more compatible with Mac.
That is my worry.

Archi wrote:Like the others, I have seen very few (practically no) hardware problems with the Mac or with the Mac running Windows. The only hardware issues I can think of is if your peripherals are so old that they lack USB ports.TomWaltz wrote:To avoid misunderstanding:~/archiben wrote:I was kind of thinking that too... Does your printer only have a parallel port? Are you using dial-up service with a serial port modem? Anything more recent (USB printer or modem, DSL modem/router, etc.) should work with a Mac no problem.

Archi wrote:i think that you are the one with the misunderstanding! pretty much all of your existing hardware will work with the mac OS . . . printers, scanners, routers, cameras, phones, etc, etc . .

see item number 7: http://www.apple.com/getamac/
and: http://www.apple.com/macosx/upgrade/devices.html
mac OS comes with built-in drivers for 90% of the hardware out there. and if it doesn't have one for yours just download it from the manufacturer's website. too easy!

In this time I could use the peripherials.
I am using Zyxel Prestige modem. I am very confused now. The question ist, why should we buy Window in this case?
Standard graphic card for MacPro is with AC tested, and is proved as very nice.
My future hardware will be Mac Pro workstation with 2GB ram with standard graphic card, and I can use than the existing peripherial like modem and printer.
I think, monitor for window can not be used for Mac Os.... or?

But seriously: Vista is not and will not be fully supported by AC10 (not even with future hot fixes).
FYI - work for Vista support in future major AC releases is in progress..."
and this from the AC Wiki :
http://www.archicadwiki.com/Windows_Vista
It makes it all moot doesn't it? There's a Mac in your future unless you're going to run XP.........Have these problems NOT popped up for you Velimir?
