!Restored: New ArchiCAD 11 Hotfix (build 1200)

Dear ArchiCAD-Talkers,

A new Hotfix for ArchiCAD 11 (build 1200) is now available through the Check for updates... command. It applies to Commercial, Educational and Trial licenses too. Currently English language versions are available, others will follow soon.

Does anyone have problems with Hotfix and java 6? Some of our machines installed the Hotfix easily but some machines keep aborting the install and giving an error message. We think it might be the version of Java currently installed on each computer (does that sound right?).

Any insight would be useful.
Seems our local rep suggested uninstalling ArchiCAD and re-installing. It seems to work fine now.

Actually, the bug with the installer is a known issue with InstallAnywhere, which is what the ArchiCAD installers (and hotfixes) are made using. Macrovision(makers of InstallAnywhere) are working on the issue now, but have not announced any dates for release of a fix. This is the same bug that is causing a delay in the installers for CadimageTools.
In the meantime, you can uninstall the problem Java version from your 'Add/Remove Programs' dialog in windows. Just uninstall 'Java version 6, update 5'. Of course, uninstalling and re-installing ArchiCAD will do the trick also, as the ArchiCAD installer contains an older version of Java that actually works properly.

I've just tried to update a

Mactel Mac Pro 1,1
CPU Dual-Core Intel Xeon 2.66 GHz
Memory: 2 GB

running Mac OSX 10.5.2

and it comes up with an error just as it starts to install. From the log file it generates there is mention of Java so I'm guessing this is the same Java problem.

Anyone else hit this problem on a Mac?

tia

***update***

Just tried installing Java 5 but not allowed to. Uninstalling Java on Mac OS 10.5 doesn't appear to be an option as I suspect it's hard wired into 10.5

I notice this hotfix was not posted to http://tr.graphisoftus.com/

Is this site being abandoned for future upgrade notifications? Gergely, do you know? Should I stop monitoring this site for updates and just stick to the "Help/ Check for Updates"?

I always thought of that site as an archive of old stuff I've missed or lost. I wouldn't rely on it for anything new.

I suppose you're right though GS did post Hotfix 1114 --and all previous builds, AFAIK-- to that site as soon as they were ready (sometimes before they were ready). It would be nice if they posted updates to a site that supported RSS. Or maybe built into ArchiCAD an automatic version checker like Adobe (but hopefully better than Adobe's).

Doesn't this already exist? I'm pretty sure I've had a window telling me that Archicad isn't up to date come up before. Although it might just be for the Archicad library update, in which case it would make sense for it to be for all updates.

I agree about the RSS thing - although all updates now seem to be announced on the Archicad + forum any way.

It is for both. You can trigger it manually by going to 'Check for updates...' in the 'Help' menu.

Your problem seems to be related to permissions. Please check that you have Read&Write rights to the ArchiCAD folder, all its sub-folders and files in it.
