!Restored: Pics in 3D?

I'm wondering if its possible to place a .pic file or any file, .jpg, .pdf in model view so that it takes on the characteristics as to look like it would in real life.

Example:

Lets say I want to construct a billboard, and place an image on that bill board, and display it, along with the image in 3D. How do I do that, and what file do I use?

Use the "Picture" object from your ArchiCAD library.

I've done that, but now how do I place my own image?

First make sure your image is loaded in your project file using the Library Manager.
Then type in the file name of the image you want shown on the picture object. Refer to the image attached....

Hello Jill,
Pictures in 3D only show in a photo rendering of the 3D window.
I am guessing that you need to photo render the 3D window
to get your custom picture to show.

perhaps someone knows an alternative way to get a 2D picture to show up in my 3D model without rendering?

my specific need is to show exterior banners on my building -in elevation and "3D document" views. thanks!

In elevation you can place the image with the Figure tool and stretch to suit. This will require manual editing if your billboard moves.

1. your picture should be in the loaded libraries

2. your picture size in pixels should have the same proportion as the Picture object (e.g. 500x400 pixels for the 1x0,8 m picture/banner)

3. Make sure that the face of your Picture object is turned outwards, not inwards

4. The placed picture should show in the OpenGL and Rendering views

5. The placed picture shows on the 3DD as much as the other textures do ...

ArchiForma has a tool for making cutouts and banners, try it out.
