no one has any ideas?

the 10 degree sloping piece is a 'roof' sharing the same composite
as the 'wall' which meets at about a 100 degree angle

how can i clean up the intersection rules so that the sloping cladding cap mitres correctly instead of sitting on top and so that the drainage cavity is NOT brought to the face of the cladding?

Could you be a little more specific?
Normally merging something into a document is importing something from another document I am simply building a model and hoping to have the wall composite show correctly in cross section

Your Cut Stone building material needs a stronger intersection priority than your Air Space material. If this stuffs up other intersections you will need to make a copy of one of the materials.

Tried this also but it doesnt seem to want to work
is there a particular point where the roof slab edge and wall height need to intersect or overrun? no combination seems to make any difference

The warning icon in the Building Materials dialogue (it has a tooltip) indicates that legacy intersection mode is on - probably a migrated file pre-AC17.
You can change this in Project Preferences - Legacy, but unchecking it will make changes to your model, and apply Building Materials surfaces and intersection Priorities.
