Rope Moulding creation question

Hello,
I'm hoping someone might have a good solution for this; I have a client who wants rope moldings accents on a lot of cabinetry, up until now I have been modifying the spiral object in the special conts. folder to create the look but the more I add to this the longer all my processing goes so this is not a good full model solution. I have cadimage’s Profiler tool and we picked up Objective this weekend to maybe model a more efficient way to create this both in my time and in processing time. Thanks

Indeed Objective is a very handy tool for that tuff jobs... No doubt...

But in this situation... a "simple" complex profile ( ) and a SEO´ed "Spiral 12" object could easily do the job too...

Again... Prepare for a nightmare polygon...

Refer to the attached image:

• 1) Select the Regular Profile object bundled with OBJECTiVE, and apply the settings as shown to make it a vertical spiral with a round profile. Note that you can control the smoothness (and number of faces in 3D) using these settings.
  2) Use multiply to repeat this single instance over the required length
  3) You should have something like this
  4) If you want to trim off the top/base of the 'rope', place an elevation alongside it and use OBJECTiVE's Split tool to cut them off
  5) You should finish up with something like this.

You can change the smoothness at any time to control the complexity of the 3D model. The model should be quite practical if the smoothness is set appropriately.

Haven't worked the objective moulding into the crown yet but this where I'm at with just useing the ac 11 sprial object set to simple, not bad so far.

Absolutely "steller" Ralph, woodz31 ,Steve and Braza.
No wonder I gave up on Autocad dos 9 in 1989, trying
to make my own simple "isometric" 3d modular cabinet set
because I could not afford Cabinetware!
My, what 20yrs of innovation has brought us all.
Wow, now I just need to learn it all, someday.

In a nutshell, GS-UK commissioned Ralph Wessel to create this object and then decided to distribute it to their subscribers. Subsequently, it was given to other distributors worldwide to do the same. Many are/were unaware about its very existence and had to be pushed to contact GS-UK. Mine sent me a CD in the mail within a few days. Your mileage may vary - apparently others have not been as lucky.
