Sections and Elevations are messed up

After working on a plan for months without problems, all of a sudden my elevation and building section views are screwed up.

When I open the section or elevation, the view is missing a large portion of the line work (walls, roofs, notes, dims, etc)

I double check the plan to make sure nothing was deleted and everything is there, its just not showing up in the elevation or section view.

I've updated my graphics card. My patches are current and I've even tried to cut a new section/elevation to see if there was a problem with the specific original elev/ection and i get the same problem.

Any idea what I can do here? Thsi is setting me back weeks or months

I'm confused when you refer to missing line work as walls and roofs. Are these model elements, line work created by ArchiCAD, or drafting by you?

Do you mean that these walls and roofs are present in plan and not in section? Is the section a model or drawing view?

I mean the section, elevation and the 3D model has missing elements.

For exampls I can marquee around an exterio and interior wall and open it in 3d and only see part of the walls, roofs, etc. However if I select one of the walls that I couldn't see in the 3d view and then open the 3d window, i can see it fine.

I can clearly see the elements in 2d, but they randomly disappear in the 3d model or any section or elevation I create.

I have spent the last 3 hours tediously turning on each lyer one at a time with my desired section open. If I only turn on a few layers at a time, the section regeneraes fully in tact. If I choose too many layers, then the section reverts back to the problem I mentioned...ie missing walls, roofs, etc

its bewildering and very frustrating

I'm not sure if I'm missing something here, but if you draw a marguee in plan only those elements within the marquee will be displayed in the 3d window. If the marquee is a single story marquee then the 3d display will also be limited to the story on which the marquee was drawn.

Now, that doesn't explain why any elements would not appear in elevations but you must be sure that the layers that those elements are on are visible. If they are visible in 2d then they are also visible in 3d unless you are using a saved view to switch windows. In that case check the view settings to see what layers are saved as visible with the view.

Yeah, your missing it, nut its probably my bad explanantion. I think its rally hard to convey what is occurring in writing.

I know how the marquee works and thats not the issue.

What I am saying is that even if I had done the marquee wrong, as you described, only a portion of the elements show up in the 3D model, elevation or section.

Something is messing up when the section or elevation is created

Post a screenshot. That might help.

Try using the internal engine and see if you get the same result. You might also check the setting of elements to show in 3D to see if something there inadvertently was changed.

As a test cut and paste one of the errant walls - sometimes a corruption can set in. Select the dimensions as well if you want to keep them too.

Check to see if you have duplicate parts. Duplicate parts in same spot do not show in section/elevation and any associated dimensions that were added in section/elevation window to parts prior to duplication disappear too.

I think ted is right...It sounds like you have somehow copied the model on top of itself...this would definitely produce the behavior you are describing.
