Slab Accessory Footing Dashed Lines

The Footing tool in Extras>Accessories>Slab Accessories does a very nice job of creating stemwalls and basement walls in 3D and section views, but is unusable in 2D views and documents because the sub-grade footing section isn't dashed. That's a pretty basic drawing standard to have ignored. I've worked around it by using 2D white diagonal striped fills to create a dash, but is that really the solution?

I like the Accessory over using individual wall objects for footing and the foundation wall, since I can change footing size and wall heights on the fly, and it creates an automatic mudsill and keyway.

Is there something better than using fills to create the dashed lines? Is this a wish list item for a future Library update? Maybe something is already in the works?

I had not been aware of this EXTRA tool to do footings. I have been drawing my footings using the wall tool as the wall tool under AC 9 can create a solid line on one side and dashed lines on the other.

This does what you want. As you state, the footing tool does other things that you find more useful.

You may have the only process until GS modifies the tool to get your desired results.

Perhaps you should put a request on the wishlist for future releases of AC 9.

I prefer using walls too. With favorites set up, you can spacebar click in your entire footing system in no time. Besides, I find the footing tool just a little too restrictive, especially when it comes to stepped footings/slabs.

However, in AC9, you are able to successfully set your linetype to dashed. Maybe a simple upgrade would be the answer?

If you are still running 8, then you really will like 9 when you get it.

Hmmmmm........I'm not sure how I'm allowed to reply this one, but let's just say I've had a very rewarding relationship with ArchiCAD 9 for some time now!

Ughh, I've never been an early adopter of revisions. I'm also a little gun-shy from the upgrade from 8 to 8.1. Followed instructions by the letter using Attribute Manager and still couldn't bring across all the Favorites, Composites and Materials I worked hard to develop.

Maybe there are some upgrade discussions worth looking at. (':?')

Thanks all...
