HELP PLEASE!!!

I want to make some walls higher than the others.. I used the morph tool, but I'm sure there's an easier way!

Hi,

I understand you want to change the shape of the wall as seen on it's side, right?

There are 3 ways you can do that.
  • 1- Use a Wall , and cut it with a Roof, then delete the roof. The wall will keep its shape.

2- Use a Wall, cut it with a Morph shape, then move the Morph to a Hidden Layer ( used for SEO operators)

3- Transform the Wall into a Morph, and free modify it.
My personal Preference is to use the #2.
And be aware of #3: Walls will loose it's "connection" with other walls.

One set back: SEO ( Solid Element Operations) done into walls will not reflect in Floorplan. i.e. I f you cut a wall in two with a SEO operator, it will be seen cut in all views except for the floor plans.

Hope this helps

sorry guys but....have never understand that whole "create a mass to be used as a 'negative' volume to be hidden"........I just have a hard time justifying having a volume, be it negative space always floating around the model. Imagine if the there are many, many walls that become this complex.....you'd have a myriad of floating strange volume objects in a layer that you'd have to constantly keep hidden.

Dunno, just seems there's a better way to do this task....but I have not been able to come across one...

Yep, it seems odd. Perhaps because we have to "cook it manually" Other software packages actually do the same but behind the curtains by offering you "Void" objects.(actually living in an invisible layer or category)

The most elegant solution I'm aware of is provided by Revit with it's Edit Profile for the wall as seen from a side. VectorWorks does a similar thing, and I really don't know what Bentley AECSim, Allplan, and others deal with the same thing.
