Solid Element Operations Problem

I want the floor joists I have put into a project to to sit into a block wall I've created. So, I use solid element operations. I select the wall as the target, and the joists as the operator, with subtraction as the method, and hit execute, and it does nothing that I can tell. As you can see from the attached plan, The joists actually run 4" into the wall. But when I go to 3D prospective and look at the joists, they actually end at the face of the wall, even though the hotspots show them going into the wall. See the next two posts for those views. What am I doing wrong? Both elements are complex profiles. I want the block wall to be cut out around the joists...

I got it, simple fix I should have picked up earlier. The joist priority was lower than the foundation wall priority, so it was not cutting correctly. Thank you Eric Bobrow for your article in AECBytes explaining this...

here's the fix...

Adjust your intersection priorities so the joist/beam's is higher; then you won't need to do SEOs.
