I have had the problem before with meshes, and I copied the mesh and replaced the old one and then it worked, takes a few times of copying and pasting.

If you simply want a holethru a slab (i.e. not a recess) just select the slab, have slab tool active and draw the shape of the hole. Bingo.
If you simply want a hole

Thanks for the help, I know about the cutting of slabs by dragging shapes, but in this case I had a shape of a floor or house outline sent and would not have been so easy to do the simple method. So I made a copy put on a new layer and... anyway all is ok now so I'm on to the next problem. Thanks again, Fred Wright, Architect
