Solid Element Operations

Am I right in saying that if you have done some SEO if you then publish it as a module for use in another drawing file you also have to publish with the module the elements that are being used to create the holes or slots etc?

You are right.

There is a way around it though.
If you have your operator layers on when you publish out your mods the SEO will still be in tact when you link them into another file.

What you will then have to do in your new file is to turn off your operator layer, if you want it off, then update you layer combination to reflect the changes.

HTH.
Cheers.

Thanks Ben and Woodster

What you suggested Ben is what I had done.

Thanks again

Mmm,
Strange, I just tried it one more time to make sure. It worked fine.

I'll have to take a closer look at it.

I had problems when I hotlink moduled a building plan into my site plan with some of the SEO's not sticking within the site plan. I resorted to triming the walls to the roof to have the model look correct within the site plan.

Millard,
Was the problem in ArchiCAD 9 or in an earlier version of ArchiCAD?

This was AC9. Also it seemed random as most of my SEO's came in fine just some of the walls did not hold.
It's random and unreliable for me too. Subtract from a roof works, subtract from a slab doesn't. This is in 1965. Very weird, and not very nice. It's like you're building the modules in ArchiCAD Lite.

Millard,
Regarding modules and using SEOs to trim walls, the walls(targets) and the roof(operators) must be on the same story. Multi-Story Modules are placed story by story so the elements loose their relationship to each other when linked into a seperate file.

This has really caused problems for me because I always place my roofs on a story above my walls.

I suspect the randomness you're experiencing might be due to this.
