Story Settings questions

I must be doing something out of order (hopefully). We are setting up our template and in V10 we set story settings for the 1st floor to be 100' elevation and 12' 'height to next' but I can't do that in V12. How can I? It seems I have to start at 0 elevation.

Thanks,
Michele

Michele,
In the reference levels, project zero is always set to 0. The other reference levels are set in relation to this datum level.

Are we missing something about why you are setting project zero to 100'?

GeNOS,

The different reference levels, as well as project zero, are available under the Autotext dropdown box to choose from. You can even incorporate your own text with the autotext to convey extra info, if necessary.

To ensure consistency, you can copy and paste the finished text to other level dimensions. (Ctrl+C or Ctrl+V doesn't seem to work for me, but the right-click menu does.) You can paste into more than one at a time by selecting multiple before opening the settings dialog, which is useful!

Hope that helps!

seems like doubling up on tools to get what u want. it should have the option to be set in the dim tool itself...

GeNOS,

You have to select the actual text not the dimension symbol. It brings up different dialog box.

One trick is to place one level dimension, select the text and open the settings, select the correct reference in the Autotext box, then OK it.

With gravity turned on, you can now multiple-drag-a-copy the single dimension wherever you want as long it is on the same piece of geometry and it will display the correct level.

To place on another piece of geometry the autotext cut and paste method described before seems to be best way to achieve it.

yeh i realise that.. my post above was a reply to Tom...

either way seems like double work when they should just have the option avalable up front before u place the level.

Well I agree with you in that case. It would be useful to be able to select the reference level before placing the dimension.

Erika just posted up a tip for changing multiple level dimension ref levels at the same time.

Seems to work for me!
