Survey: Favorite AC & PM Dual Monitor Setup (WinXP)

I just purchased a new laptop with 17" WXGA (1400 x 900) and a new external 19"LCD (1280 x 1024).

I was wondering how everybody that uses Dual monitors is "splitting" the screen area when using AC 8.1 & PM.

Thanks for your "to each their own". Yours is always respected and appreiciated.
I actually ended up close to your layout save the Favorites & Show Quick Layer Palettes.

Question: How did you get the 3D Window on a seperate screen from the floor plan with the AC Window NOT maxed?

Also Where did you find the setting to extend the Toolbox to display all tools?

Link, also my start bar (task bar) is only on my primary monitor (for me thi is my left side and my Sager 4780). Your start bar is streached to both screens. This difference may be due to the ATI Card and driver?

Right click on your desktop>Properties>Settings (tab). Towards the bottom there is a checkbox for "Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor". This will stretch your entire desktop over both monitors (including the task bar!) and will consequently allow you to maximize AC over both screens. Then you can place the 3D window on the other screen!

To extend your AC toolboxes, go to Options>Customize>Palette Shapes. To choose which other windows to show, go to Window>Floating Palettes.

Good luck mate:-)

Thanks again for the reply.

I have my settings the way you said. With AC window maximized it only maximizes the the one or the other screen (depending on which screen has "more of the tiled windows on screen before maximizing. My work around (if it is called that) is to not maximize the screen but to stretch the tiled screen on the the other monitor. This way I can split the floor plan & 3D windows. As far as the Task bar it remains only on monitor 1. This may be due to the fact that I have different Resolutions set for each monitor. The task bar issue is not that big a deal.

There may be additional options in your ATI drivers settings that you are missing. In your display settings, go to Advanced>Displays.
