Tilted windows

Does anyone have any advice for modelling regular (orthagonal) windows tilted at an angle to follow the roof line above? The wall itself is a regular straight wall.

I'd appreciate any and all advice.

Thanks!

Jennifer,
I may be wrong, but I think this type of window placement
would have to be scripted in GDL. Off the top of my head,
I would think that one would have to take a regular window
save with a different name and in the 3D script,
invoke a wallhole command to disable the default wall hole,
then rotate the wallhole and all of the 3D window elements
about the "Z" axis to the angle of the roof pitch.
The 2D symbol would have to be scripted to reflect
how the window would look when cut in plan to any given angle.
The whole issue of what the "A" and "B" dimensions would mean
would have to be dealt with as well.
This brings up the question of how AC 10 would handle
the 2D symbol with the new floor plan cut plane.
I don't know the answer to this.
I had not seen this type of window except in Vermont,
but maybe it is common enough, so it might
be worth scripting such a window.

You could create a complex profile and set the opening reference lines at an angle that matches the roof.

Or do you mean the angle in line with the wall?

Hello Link,
How's that again ?
I did not know one could define a hole in
a complex profile wall.
I thought one used windows, doors, or openings to do this.
Thanks,
Peter Devlin

I have to amend this by saying when wanting to put
an opening in the face of a complex profile wall, it can
be done on the end of a complex profile.

I thought Jennifer meant perpendicular to the wall.

Stranger things have happened.....

If you mean a window with the head following the slope of the roof (at a gable, for example) : one word - Door&WindowBuilder

Or do you mean the whole window is rotated in the wall? A picture would help.

Ignore me then.

Go for Peter's advice or Stuart's one(?!) word!

Hello S t u a r t,
Can Door&WindowBuilder really do this kind of rotated window ?
If so, I wonder how they handle some of the issues I mentioned.
Thanks,

Now I see exactly what Jennifer is after, I don't think DWB can do this. If it was just a matter of splaying head or sill of the window that would be no problem. Jambs don't seem to have an option for sloping.

Attached shows an elevation in the preview window, head and sill sloping.
