Is there a proper procedure for this? I am using the student 8.1 version.
Thanks,

When you make a material, you consider:
the photo texture in the photo rendering
the "color" in OpenGL rendering - if "texture" is not activated in the OpenGL options.
and the color in the Internal rendering engine- see attached, from version 9.
You probably can't get the "color" to change because you are only editing the texture and not actually changing the surface color - you need to do both.

Dwight wrote:... as we now also have the Lightworks properties, that not necessarily reflect the looks of the material in the internal engine rendering or OpenGL 3D view. For example, you can use the texture applied in the internal engine as a bump map only, changing the color for Lightworks rendering.
You have posed a three-pronged question because "materials" are shown differently, depending on the rendering method - it gets even more complex in version 9.

When you make a material, you consider:.
One has to start with Internal Engine, Duplicate, change the settings and the tiff (jpeg, bmp) files and only then go to Lightworks for modifications?
Thanks,

Best to duplicate a similar material, rename it, then change it into what you want.
If what you use is similar to start with - as far as reflectance and sizing goes, it is straight-forward enough. No?
