Update windows doors

Anonymous
Not applicable
I need to work a series a drawings which where previously been worked by an other architect in archicad 6.5.
How can I select all windows (or doors) and mass change not only their type but their version (achicad 8.1), without changing their structural dimensions (each one have different dimensions).

While "find and select" will help you refine your search and destroy mission targets, it is still fairly manual.

By describing the sizes of each group you can gang change them, but as specifications get finer, it is a onebyone...

If you mean merely to convert the 6.5 parts into 8.1 format parts, just open the 6.5 pla and choose to unpack the libary parts into a folder. They will be converted as they are saved AFAIK.

If you mean to substitute a similar 8.1 part for a differently named 6.5 part, then the process is quite tedious in 8.1 since you must make a note of all parameter settings for the old window and set the new window to match as you replace each one in turn. Ugh.

In 9.0, there is a new feature ... that will help if the parameter names of the 6.5 windows are the same as the desired 9.0 windows:

1. eyedrop the window in your plan to pick up its settings, open the object settings for that window (select if not already, then ctrl-T) ...

2. In the object settings dialog, find the window that you want to use to replace the selected window(s) and syringe the settings into the thumbnail preview of that new window. All matching parameters will be transfered so that the new window will be set to the same size as the one you eyedroppered, and if the param names are the same, the trim size and material and other stuff will also now match. Click OK and the new window will replace all of your selected window(s).

Of course, this doesn't help you with 8.1 ...
