Volume - Structure Vs. Open Space Calculation

What would be the best way to accomplish a Volume calculation like the one in the Attached Image

Maybe you could create a Zone for the enclosing volume. That would be Shape 1.
Then use Slab and Roof and create SEO operations to create shape 2.
Then you could subtract Shape 2 from Shape 1 to achieve share 3.
Then you could schedule these shapes.

I do not currently use 3D Zones, do they SEO?
