WHEN IS GRID TOOL COMING???

Can anybody shed light on when the AC 11 grid tool will be available!!!

My team beta tested AC 11 and throughout the beta test the grid tool was available, albeit just as flawed as it was in 10. Then suddenly the tool was taken away from us when the final release came out. We were urged to used AC 11 on 'real' projects by graphisoft and so we did. We have real clients and we are working on a real $100m hotel and we need our grid tool back, asap.

*We have tried loading the RC1 grid tool but it doesn't get read by the final release.

laura - what if, in your WE command settings, you sort the commands "By Theme"? then open the "Add-ons" theme and you should see the grid system commands within its own folder there . . . ?

Ben now that you are on the ATalk maybe you tell me how to make Grid Element the default of Grid System?
Thanks,

sorry joseph - i don't understand the question . . .

laura - another thought: the 'grid system' and the 'structural grid' add-ons used to be incompatible: you could run one or the other but not both together. is that the problem? (it shouldn't be because i've recently had them both loaded in order to set up my WE and they both showed up . . .)

Thanks Ben for crying and trying to under stand me;
The Grid System Settings does not have a Marker to be set. The marker is in Grid Element Settings, but Grid System Settings does not read the Grid Element Settings at time of placing the grid (it picks up some default setting which one has to edit individually each one separately). Any solution?
Thanks,
Joseph

ok. gotcha.

you can't. in yet another example of arse-about-face graphisoft logic you have to place the grid using the 'Grid System' menu command and then edit it's 2D representation attributes using the 'Grid Tool' dialogue . . .

you can select them all and edit them all at once . . . (they should all be grouped once placed using the 'Grid System' command) . . .

bottom line: i tried to use the grid tool once. tested the hell out of it. found it to be completely wanting in many aspects and went back to using lines and text.

sometimes the old ways are still the best . . . especially if graphisoft continue to "design" the kind of crap usability/user-interfaces they currently are for their tools. (e.g. the IE tool!).

there is also a great set of objects called the "3 (Free)dom Grids". try objects online . . .

cheers

I have this add-on, the issues I have with it is that:
1. It will not showup automatically on Section/Elevations
2. Adding a Grid line after the fact is very difficult
3. It is an Add-on and trying to implement the policy of no add-ons in this office since at each upgrade the wait for the add-on to catch up is a killer & the transition projects end up being incomplete.

Thanks a Mil.
