A complex profile only extrudes in the direction of the wall length - so only horizontal details.
Vertical extrusions require various tricks.

You can also model the vertical elements with profiled columns (but have to cut/adjust them around windows/doors).
Another option is to create a 3D cutting pattern using Trussmaker or other tools and then use a Solid Element operation to subtract this from the wall, creating a pattern of reveals.
