Wall reference line problem

I've come a cross som weird behaviour when using composite walls. These two walls are identical the first three layers counting from right to left. Still, giving them the same reference line offset doesn't work. The lower wall has an offset of 73, and the upper wall has an offset of 63. I'm sure there is a perfectly rational explanation to this, I just need help seeing it..

When using offsets in the wall settings, the reference line remains static and the wall layers adjust. You should align the wall reference lines and then correct the misalignment in the offset value. If the walls are the same build up / composite then the offset should be the same in both walls to align correctly.

So without an offset, they don't both align on the right side? Your reference lines do not currently line up in your image...
