You will probably have to edit the 2D Script of the Zone Object, if I understand your question correctly.

1. Place a zone in a drawing
2. With the Zone tool active select the Zone Stamp
3. Go to File/GDL Objects/Open Object
4. Go to the 2D script
5. Go to Edit/Find & Replace and type in sq ft (see picture)
6. Change sq ft to SF
7. Save the Stamp

You will have to go to Options/Zone Categories to make it a default stamp for a given category

first I really appreciate....I need to make this package work or I am going to the cleaners....I have a situation of where 8.1 and 9 are both loaded....so where does the 2d script reside normally.....

After step 3 (above) you will get this window (below). Click as indicated and the 2D script will appear. The button labeled "2D Script" will bring the script up right in the Library Part window. The smaller button immediately to the right of that will bring the script up in a separate window.
