For example I often find that a project starts with the external reference line being the controlling line. As the project progresses and wall thickness & finishes change, its the inner reference line which needs to be fixed. This results in one having to manually move the wall to its original position. It's not a major issue and not something I require often.

(I'll lock the inner surface of walls that are at code-defined minimum distances from each other.) I rarely deviate from having the reference line on the exterior core skin because I treat the reference line as a a structural face that typically aligns with foundation/beams/etc below. All foundation work is also done with composites. If the structure of any element changes, then the composites are redefined and the structural alignment is usually still correct. Log homes are another story, where center reference lines are useful.Haneef wrote:This is one of the reasons I have standardized (with some exceptions) on putting the reference lines on the inner face of exterior walls, even in early stages.
