curtain walls

I want to find out what methods (objects, plug ins, etc..) do you guys use to gain more design control with curtain walls.
the image below is using the curtain wall family of objects from the default AC library. it's giving me good results in floor plan and 3D but for the next phase I'm going to need more control over the spandrels, different panels materials, etc.. also I'm not sure how effeciant these ojects are going to be once I get into working drawings and window schedule.
