import/export Design Option Sets

I've made a few searches for the topic of this post - both in Google and directly in this forum - but aside from an AI-generated halucination (you can import and export design options throught he Property Manager!) there appears to be zero content on this.

Am I the only person who wants this feature?

Just two buttons

Given that the Design Options feature works largely like Renovation Filters, I would've thought this would be in the original specification when the feature was first designed.

Can anyone shed some light on this seemingly neglected topic?

I think the reason there is no import/export, is that the design options don't actually have any settings.

They are really just like a hotlink master layer, it is simply either turned on or off.

But I agree, it would be nice to be able to import/export the options and option combinations from one file to another, rather than have to set them up in each file.

The other thing is, unless you are doing very similar projects, the design options in each file will probably be unique anyway.

I haven't tried this, but if you copy an element from one file that is part of a design option to another file that does not have that design option, what happens?

Does it just place that element in the main model, or does it create the design option?

Hi Barry Kelly,

Yes copying and pasting an element part of a design option to another file that doesn't have it create that design option but not the combinations.

Also if you create design options and combinations in a module, when you place the module in a file that that doesn't have those design options and combinations, you can assign any design option or combination to each placed module but they are not created in the host file.
