mesh in 3d

I created a mesh with the Magic Wand and Polylines. It is visible in the 2D but not in the 3D.There is always the warning" Invaild Polygon, self intersection or hole intersects boundary" hm ?Thanks

Something is wrong with your mesh. Can you post the screenshot of the plan? Some outlines are probably overlapping.

Hmmm ... did you do it with the Mesh or with ArchiTerra? Looks OK to me, but Fabrizio of Cigraph fame will know if something else is wrong.

Where is the origin? Can't see it on the plan screen shot.

As you ses in the coordinates box, the origin is far. It is not on the screenshot. I used a template. I 've never minded.I created it with the Mesh.

I have problem with mesh tool, too. I want to build it like ocean wave. BUT somehow it alwas show up as a flat plan. :cry:

When I see this happen, it usually means there is a problem with an arc used to generate the mesh perimeter, usually that the arc crosses the rest of the path. This can happen at such a small scale that you can barely see it even when zoomed in. I've attached an exaggerated example of the problem.

Use the Vaulted roof. Draw the profile of the wave, magic wans into the roof.

If it has to be the mesh, add the points, and with the profile drawn, edit the z of the mesh points at each ridge. With the smoothing on, should be OK.

If an object suffices, use Profiler for vertical extrusion or TrussMaker (watch out for the number fo segments!).

Draw two wavy polylines with ArchiForma, make the surface.

Make a slab whose height is the width of your wave, and the plan is the profile of the wave. Save as object.

Draw a wavy wall, whose height is the width of the wave, if you need both the surfaces of the wave to be parallel. Save as object.

There should be more ways, can't think of any more now ...

PS Oh, yes - there WAS a wave generator by Frank Chin on his now defunct Web site; search the forum for Frank Chin, I seem to remember he did move his wonderful collection of objects somewhere else.
