objects at a slope, Rotate in 3D - Elevation.

How do you rotate on the vertical, 3D or Section/Elevation. I want to make my Gutter have a slope relative to level ground, 8' off the ground on one end and 7' off the cround at the other. I thought it had something to do w/ gravity but the gravity button won't activate and if I try to rotate in the 3D window it will only elevate while the object stays parrallel to level.
Thanks
Mike

You will probably have to place a ROTX or a ROTY command at the beginning of your 3D Script. Or you can place both.
Create two new parameters in the Library Object (lets say, P and R), one for rotation around the X axis and another for rotation around the Y axis. Maybe the length of the gutter aligns with the X axis, in this case you would have to rotate around the Y axis.
You will probably have to find the simple mathematical formula to convert your slope to degrees.
Then at the beginning of the 3D Script, place:

ROTX P
ROTY R

You will see in which direction it rotates when the value is positive of negative.

If you want a Rotate command that works in 3D, take a look at FrameWright. You can also make your own gutter profiles and cut the ends for connections. For example:
  • 1. Draw the gutter profile you want as a fill.
    2. Ask FrameWright to convert the fill to a profiled 3D object and place it in your model.
    3. Use the FrameWright 'Rotate' to incline it to whatever orientation you want (this will rotate about any axis).
    4. You can also freely split the object as required for connections/terminations.
You can find more info at http://www.encina.co.uk/framewright.html A downloadable time-limited demo is available.
