problems displaying text in layout space

i have a wall legend, originally drawn in autocad, imported and relayered in archicad. It is then hotlinked into new file. the text displays correctly in the model space, but no text is visible when placed onto layout border. does anyone know why?

Sometimes I will have text not show up on the layout and I can open layers and click "Show All" and they will appear. It works for me but I have never tried it wit Hot Link item.
