the image above shows two "identical" ellipses.
the curved one is drawn using the method shown as active in the picture. the polygonal one is drawn via any other ellipse-drawing method in ArchiCAD.
it is not a big deal switching drawing methods,
still, i am curious what i might be missing getting the poorly hotspotted octogon instead of a nice ellipse.
thank you for the answers, in advance!
kind regards!

That is interesting indeed.
Could you again say how you created the "Ellipse" on the left?
Also, please state your ArchiCAD version.

What seems strange is that both are selected, but the left one has only ONE hotspot. So I can't understand what it really is. A GDL Object?.
Anyway, if you obtained it via the Magic Wand, check that the setting (Options menu) are not set to "linear segments".

both shapes were drawn in ArchiCAD 15, with the "arc/circle" tool.
the left one can either be obtained by using this tool:
or this one:
i tried them both again. using the first tool shown above resulted in a proper ellipse. the tool in the second picture messed it up again into the octogon. i might just have to reinstall.
thank you, anyway!

Hello ,
This happens with me also,
The octagonal ellipse in AC 15 is coming default, I think some kind of bug,
Now I am using AC 16 and updated with latest hot fix, the problem is solved .
Regards,
Ratna
