Is there a reason you're creating layouts in a separate PLN from the PLN you are making the drawings in?

Yes, if you place layouts from one PLN into another, Archicad will open another session in order to update the layouts. If you want to control when this happens, you can set your views to be "Manual" updating instead of "Auto"

Unfortunately my project is too many MBs and I have to separate it, but helps a lot making all my layouts in one PLN.

Why do you think your project is "too many MBs?" Archicad can handle pretty large files unless your computer does not meet the system requirements.

I think that 52 MB is too many for Archicad even if my computer meet the system requirements.

Not a problem 🙂

I have several projects 75 or more MB and Archicad handles them quite well (on 2 GHz Mac G5 machines that are about 2 to 3 years old)

You use Mac that’s why…..
on Xeon™ CPU 3.60Hz, 3.59GHz, 3.00GB of RAM I have a serious problem if I try to do more….

A 3.59GHz, 3.00GB Xeon should outperform my 2,0 Ghz machine any day of the week and twice on sunday!

[The following is true for Macs, and hopefully remains true for PCs:]

You need to have the 'model PLN' already open when you update your 'layout PLN' (that is, you need to have two sessions of ArchiCAD open). The layout will update the drawings from the session that is already open --it will not need to launch a new ArchiCAD and open the file. This works *fast*, and also feels more natural when you need to touch up both model and layouts simultaneously.

I routinely work with 3 to 5 sessions open for this very same reason, several model PLNs feeding a layout, and also module files feeding model plns, etc.

[I use the old-school method of making copies of the application, so that from the Dock I can click the 5th ArchiCAD icon to go to the layout in one move, etc., but using the more modern 'Launch in a new instance of ArchiCAD' works the same.]
