vectorial hatching in elev view

Anonymous

i too am not able to get an exterior wall siding and a roof shingle (both are vectorial hatching) to display in elevation, even after following all of the instructions offered to STARTER, august 18.

the 3D vect box is checked in the elevation default settings model display, the hatching is vectorial, the shingles do display on the roof plan, and an element pen is assigned to the material's vectorial hatching.

what else is there to set up to get the hatching to display in elevation?

Which materials are you using?? Also check your Model View Options and make sure that your Elevation Views, in the view map, are set to say Construction Documents or one that will show the fill.

I checked your suggestions > I do not have a "construction" view saved but the Plot View that i am using does have the Cover Fill Patterns option set to "As In settings".

The materials i am using are vectorial displayed items > Roof - Shingle 01, Asphalt and the wall siding is material for the wall Model is Wall - Siding, White, 6"; each are vectorial.
What are settings under "Uncut Elements" in the Section Default Settings? (Model View options are for Plan Views only, I believe.)

settings in section defaults/MODEL DISPLY is same as elevation settings:

>> Fill uncut surfaces: NOTHING (>> tried them all and still no-worky)
(when i set to other view options i use a black pen)
>> Vectorial 3D hatching is CHECKED

i've followed all the descriptions in the user manual that i can find relating to displaying vectorial hatching as well as everything i can find in architalk, still no success.
Jeff,

Any chance your elevation is set to Drawing or Manual Rebuild? If it's not on Automatic Rebuild, you won't see any changes. (Just checking.... Sometimes a problem like this is something minor.)

yes > elev is set to auto-rebuild.

more than sometimes, it is almost always some little, obscure setting that is notright; although i have run across one or two things that have been a software glitch.

in the material settings where you are defining the vectorial fill to be used, is it set to use a global pen or the pen defined in your sect/elev settings?

if the former, maybe it is a white pen in your view and not showing? if the latter check your distant area settings as well: it could be that vectorial hatching is checked generally but turned off for 'distant' surfaces . . . of which your siding is a part.

only one or two?!

in materials, vect hatching is set to a specific pen (20, black, .25 pt) rather than ELEMENT pen.

the horizontal range in elevation settings is set to infinite and i checked the MARKED DISTANT TO uniform pen and also checked vectorial hatching.

I still do not see vectorial hatching on the elevation.
Okay, I'll take one last guess, and then I'm out of ideas.

There is an "On-screen view options" toggle (activate this toolbar) for Vectorial hatching. If this is not checked, then you will be looking at the bitmap version. It is possible that your fill doesn't have a bitmap version associated to it, and so you wouldn't see anything. See what's going on with that toggle.
